Hennepin Health’s Customer Service Department recently announced a change in its transportation coordination practice that aligns with the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ best practices. This change became effective immediately.
For all non-emergency transportation requests (e.g., taxi services), Hennepin Health will use a “round robin” system for assigning transportation providers. When a member calls for a taxi ride, the ride is assigned according to a rotation schedule that includes all Hennepin Health-contracted transportation providers. If the first company called doesn’t have anyone available to provide the service then the next company on the list will be called, and so on and so forth. This practice is used for arranging special transportation requests as well; however, special transportation assignments will be made in accordance with the member’s specific health needs.
Please note that member requests for a specific provider won’t be accepted. Additionally, the company that was used for your most recent transportation request won’t have an impact on which company gets assigned to your next transportation request. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to serving you!
