MHP is working with other health plans on a performance improvement project (PIP) to improve antidepressant medication management in Minnesota. One intervention entails working with providers and partners to support efforts to improve adherence to antidepressant medication, with a particular focus on reducing ethnic and racial disparities.
Being diagnosed with depression can be overwhelming for a patient, let alone understanding the diagnosis and recommended treatment options. Studies have shown that helping patients understand their diagnosis and medications can aid in the adherence of prescribed antidepressant medications.
