Substance use disorder (SUD) resources

Your Hennepin Health insurance will cover your SUD treatment, including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD).

To find a SUD provider, refer to the Hennepin Health provider directory or call Member Services at 612-596-1036 (TTY 711).

1800 Chicago - Behavioral Health Center

The team at the Behavioral Health Center will take time to get to know you, address your immediate needs, and connect you to treatment and recovery supports.

  • Walk-in anytime. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Suboxone

If you are looking for support to stop, pause, or manage your use, our partners at Red Door are available to talk about how you can safely do that with Suboxone and other medications.  

Call or text (Red Door) at 612-715-0499.

Walk-in or schedule an appointment Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Naloxone (or Narcan)

Naloxone (or Narcan) is a medicine that can reverse opioid overdoses. Find naloxone near you with NaloxoneFinder.

Syringe services programs

Syringe services programs prevent the spread of infectious disease and overdose deaths by providing: 

  • Education about overdose prevention and harm reduction 
  • Access to naloxone, syringes, and other safer-use supplies 
  • Disposal of syringes and medications 
  • Vaccination, testing, and treatment resources for HIV and hepatitis B and C 
  • Referrals to health care and substance use treatment services

Medication disposal

The Sheriff’s Office can mail you a medical disposal bag (Deterra bag) you can use at home. To get a Deterra bag email drugdisposal@hennepin.us.
