Member eligibility renewals

Keep your health insurance

Member eligibility renewals happen every year. Your renewal date is based on the month you enrolled. We’re here to help you keep your health insurance.

Return of member renewals

Standard federal procedures call for your health insurance eligibility to be renewed every year. Minnesota restarted renewal processes. Here’s what to expect and what you can do.

  • Update your contact information. Make sure to let us know if your address has changed. Visit Hennepin County Healthcare assistance or call our Member Services at 612-596-1036, TTY 711. If you have MinnesotaCare, contact Health Care Consumer Support at 651-297-3862 or 800-657-3672.
  • Watch for information about how to keep your Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare. When it’s your time to renew, the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) will mail you a notice and a packet with instructions. Look for the envelope with a blue circle marked “Important information enclosed.” Make sure to reply on time.
  • Upload your completed renewal documents online. Submit your renewal by emailing or uploading your application paperwork at Hennepin County InfoKeep. You can also upload scans or photos of your documents.
  • Be prepared. Prepare to renew by visiting Renew my coverage - Department of Human Services. Get your questions answered and know when to expect your eligibility renewal. Know when it is your time to renew by using the renewal lookup tool.

We can help

You can keep your Hennepin Health plan. We want to help you avoid losing your health insurance and possible disruptions in seeing your doctor or filling a prescription. We can help you:

  • Update your address.
  • Get a new packet mailed to you if you need one.
  • Answer questions about your coverage.

Need help completing the paperwork? Member Services can help you find a MNsure navigator or find one online at MNsure. Eligible members can get a free ride to your navigator appointment by calling Member Services at 612-596-1036.

If you lose eligibility

If you no longer qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, you can shop for health insurance at www.mnsure.org. You may qualify for a tax credit or cost-sharing reductions. MNsure navigators can help. Use a map to find one near you: English (PDF)

The annual health plan selection is different

AHPS is different from member eligibility renewals; they are two separate things.

AHPS is an opportunity for you to change your health plan if you want. The AHPS period ended in early December.

If you have questions about your health plan benefits, call us. Or visit annual health plan selection - Department of Human Services (mn.gov).
