Claims and eligibility checks process update, provider portal now functional, and remit processing transitioning back to PCS/Change Healthcare

  • 11/14/2024

Correction to 10/22 provider bulletin: In this bulletin posted on Oct. 22, it was shared that 835 remits would be re-released through Change Healthcare on Oct. 28. This process will now occur on Nov. 4. Beginning Nov. 6, Hennepin Health will return to the previous 835 remit distribution process with Change Healthcare. The communication has been updated below to reflect this change.

Providers may now perform 270/271 eligibility checks and 276/277 claims status checks via direct clearinghouse connection and via the Change Healthcare ConnectCenter. Both batch and real-time transactions are available. Providers who have previously registered for ConnectCenter access will be able to use their same account name. However, Change Healthcare is now requiring multi-factor authentication (FAQ document can be found here). New users of the provider portal may enroll by emailing HennepinHealth.ProviderPortal@hennepin.us to request access.

Providers should continue to route 837s and pick up 835s through Availity for now.

835 Remit process returning to PCS/Change Healthcare Nov. 4

835 Remits from Feb. 21 to Oct. 30 to be re-released

On Nov. 4, all remits originally produced from Feb. 21, 2024, to Oct. 30, 2024, will be re-sent through Change Healthcare. Remits will be sent to the clearinghouse that Hennepin Health currently has listed in their records for each provider. Providers who already received remits from this period through Availity may want to avoid loading these files to prevent duplication. If a provider was not registered to receive remits from Hennepin Health prior to Feb. 21, 2024, they may need to work with their clearinghouse to ensure they are set up to receive files from Change Healthcare.

835 Remits to be sent through PCS/Change Healthcare going forward

Beginning Nov. 6, Hennepin Health will return to the previous 835 remit distribution process with Change Healthcare. At that time, providers should no longer use the temporary reroute through Availity. Clearinghouses who have previously been contracted to receive remits from Hennepin Health directly from PCS/Change Healthcare should expect to see remits directed to them by Change Healthcare instead of Availity. If a provider was not registered to receive remits from Hennepin Health prior to Feb. 21, 2024, they may need to work with their clearinghouse to ensure they are set up to receive files from Change Healthcare.
