Subject

At-home digital blood pressure cuffs are covered for pregnant members.

OB-GYN providers

Key points

  • Digital blood pressure cuffs are a covered service for pregnant members to use at home.
  • Providers can write an order for this service and submit it to a durable medical equipment (DME) provider, who would then deliver it to the member.
  • Hennepin Health members are required to access DME from a contracted provider. Please refer members to a contracted provider when writing a prescription for digital blood pressure cuffs. To identify a contracted DME provider, please refer to the provider search section of the Hennepin Health website.

Background

Hennepin Health members who are pregnant are able to receive digital blood pressure cuffs to use at home. These easy-to-use blood pressure cuffs help pregnant members monitor their blood pressure and reduce pregnancy and birth complications.

Blood pressure cuffs are considered DME. Providers can write an order for this service and submit it to a Hennepin Health contracted DME provider. The DME provider would then deliver it to the member as they would any other piece of equipment.
