Take a cooking class and receive 8 weeks of free groceries

Hennepin Health is launching a program for its members called Flavors of Health. Through this program, Hennepin Health members who take a cooking class at NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center or at Hennepin Healthcare Redleaf Center for Family Healing will receive 8 weeks of free groceries delivered to their home. To participate you must meet one of these criteria:

  • Be pregnant
  • Have diabetes
  • Have congestive heart failure

There is no cost to participate.

In the cooking class you will learn how to make tasty food that is good for you. You will practice preparing and cooking food in a real kitchen to build your skills and confidence. The class is about 90 minutes long.

What you’ll learn:

  • Food tasting, handling and cooking techniques
  • Cooking tips for people with limited mobility
  • Cooking food that fits your family and culture
  • How to get children involved in cooking
  • How to use food to manage and improve your health
  • How to cook with joy and flavor while making food that is good for you and your family

After taking the class, use your new skills at home with the 8 weeks of groceries.

How it works

  1. Call to sign up for a cooking class at NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center or Hennepin Healthcare Redleaf Center for Family Healing
  2. Attend at least one cooking class. Make sure the class teacher has your correct contact information.
  3. After the class, you will receive 8 weeks of food delivered to your home at no cost to you.
  4. Hennepin Health’s partner, NourishedRx, will email and/or call you to share more information and to confirm your food delivery.
