Take a cooking class and receive 8 weeks of free groceries

Through our Flavors of Health program, Hennepin Health members who take a cooking class at NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center or the Hennepin Healthcare Redleaf Center for Family Healing will receive 8 weeks of free groceries delivered to their home. To participate you must meet one of these criteria:

  • Be pregnant
  • Have recently given birth (you must take the cooking class within 9 months of giving birth)
  • Have diabetes
  • Have congestive heart failure

There is no cost to participate.

What you’ll learn in the cooking class

  • How to cook food that improves your health
  • How to cook with joy and flavor
  • How to cook food that fits your family and culture

The class is about 90 minutes long. After taking the class, use your new skills at home with the 8 weeks of free groceries.

Hennepin Healthcare Redleaf Center for Family Healing, 716 South 7th St, Minneapolis, MN 55415

(Purple Building entrance)

 

  • Wednesdays, 3-5 p.m.
    • 1st and 3rd Wednesdays – for pregnant and postpartum population (No class on 2/18)
    • 2nd and 4th Wednesdays - for people with diabetes or congestive heart failure (No class on 2/25)
  • Interpreters available

How it works

  1. Call to sign up for a cooking class at NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center or Hennepin Healthcare Redleaf Center for Family Healing
  2. Attend at least one cooking class. Make sure the class teacher has your correct contact information. 
  3. After the class, you will receive 8 weeks of food delivered to your home at no cost to you.
  4. Hennepin Health’s partner, NourishedRx, will email and/or call you to share more information and to confirm your food delivery.

  6. Use the skills you learned from the cooking class to make tasty food that is good for you and your family.

Transportation is available to and from the cooking class. Call Hennepin Health Member Services at 612-596-1036 to schedule a bus or taxi ride.
